In Upwave, there are two types of templates; Task boards and Strategy canvases.
Strategy canvases
A strategy canvas is a visual strategic framework that help you see the big picture while facilitating brainstorming and knowledge sharing.
Simply put, a strategy canvas is used for ideas and brainstorming, while a task board is used for completing work items.
We currently offer three strategy canvas templates; Business Model Canvas, Lean Canvas and SWOT.
1. Business Model Canvas
The Business Model Canvas is a strategic management tool developed by Alexander Osterwalder. It helps you visualize your entire business model in a logical way on a single page. Read more here.

2. Lean canvas
Lean Canvas is an adaptation of the Business Model Canvas. It is optimized for the Lean Startup methodology, and helps you find customer problems that are worth solving. Read more here.

3. SWOT
The SWOT-matrix is a strategic planning tool used to understand and identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in an organization. Read more here.

Cards in a task board vs a strategy canvas
Cards in a task board represents pieces of work to be done, which requires different actions. Cards in a Strategy canvas, however, act as containers of information with no specific action required.
In a Strategy Canvas, a card is just like a digital post it - you can write down information and choose a color for your card.
Cards in a task board have more options than cards in a Strategy canvas, since they require action. In a task board, you can both assign, set due dates, change colors, create subtasks, complete, comment and upload files. Read more about cards here.
